In fact, the AGFC has a series of certificates available for proud new hunters to display when they take their first animal, be it a deer, duck, squirrel or fish.
Biologists, researchers and land managers discuss turkey conservation in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hosted biologists and land managers from Arkansas and neighboring states to collaborate on an apparent decline in eastern wild turkey numbers seen across the Southeast. The meeting was held at the AGFC’s Little Rock headquarters and included presentations by biologists, researchers and conservation experts from Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Georgia and Louisiana.
Improved stump removal process to renovate Lake Conway boat lanes

LITTLE ROCK – Driving a boat on Craig D. Campbell Lake Conway Reservoir can be a bit difficult due to the thousands of stumps sitting just below the surface of the water, but thanks to some advances in technology, “Old Stumpy” will soon see a shave. The Arkansas Game and Fish is contracting Stump Busters underwater stump removal service to clear and renovate the boat lanes throughout the lake.

Leftover WMA turkey hunt permits available online Feb. 28

LITTLE ROCK – If you didn’t draw a wildlife management area turkey hunt permit during the regular drawing, there’s still a chance to get a spot to hunt some of Arkansas’s most popular WMAs. All leftover permits will be available at www.agfc.com on a first-come, first-served online sale beginning 8 a.m., Feb. 28.
AGFC seeks public input on turkey management plan revision

LITTLE ROCK — Biologists with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are seeking public input on the current revision to Arkansas’s Strategic Wild Turkey Management Plan. The plan was last reviewed in 2012, and this revision will be scheduled for formal review again in 10 years to adapt to changing needs in Arkansas’ turkey flock and conditions on the landscape.
Delta Rivers Nature Center still recovering from flood

PINE BLUFF — It may seem a distant memory, but scars from the extensive flooding along the Arkansas River last May and June are still apparent at Gov. Mike Huckabee Delta Rivers Nature Center, a favorite destination for school groups and visitors to Pine Bluff. In fact, it has been closed since May due to flood damage.
