Little Red River enjoys bonus brook trout

The Little Red River below Greers Ferry recently saw a few extra brook trout in August, thanks to a surplus of fish at the Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery..Hatchery staff released 860, 9-inch brook trout into the Greers Ferry Tailwater, which were left over after stockings were completed for the Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters.

Target infrastructure operation dates for popular duck-hunting areas set for 2017-18 season

Biologists with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission have developed later target dates for managing water control infrastructure on greentree reservoirs the AGFC manages. Operation of water control structures will not begin on most areas until Nov. 15, 2017, in an attempt to mimic natural historic flooding timing more closely than previous management.

Partnership sweeps away debris in Norfork Lake

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission staff from Mountain Home teamed up with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to remove dangerous debris left from massive spring floods which paralyzed parts of North Arkansas and created extremely hazardous conditions for boaters on Norfork Lake this summer.

AGFC vehicles and surplus inventory auctioned online

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission currently has many used vehicles and items available at govdeals.com. As part of its ongoing effort to remove outdated equipment, the agency has developed a new model to remove inventory that has outlived its expected useful lifespan by using the online auction site.

Act locally during Keep Arkansas Beautiful’s statewide cleanup campaign, Sept. 9

Each fall, Arkansans improve their communities by volunteering in the Great Arkansas Cleanup, the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission’s annual litter pickup and community cleanup event. This year’s cleanup kicks off Saturday, Sept. 9, with cleanups already scheduled around the state, and will continue through October.

Arkansas WMA Deer Hunt Permits drawn

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has completed the much-anticipated drawing for permits to hunt white-tailed deer on some of the most popular wildlife management areas in the state. Email notifications for all permit holders were distributed Thursday to inform applicants of their status.
