Subscribe to Arkansas Wildlife now to get the 2021-22 calendar issue

LITTLE ROCK — Each year, people call into the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission asking when the opening day of their favorite hunting season is or when the AGFC plans to host derbies for Free Fishing Weekend, but there’s a way to have all that information right on your wall all the year through. The July 2021-July 2022 Arkansas Wildlife magazine calendar issue is loaded with all things outdoors, and is available to everyone who subscribes by the end of June each year.

Big Buzz Bass tournament returns to Lake Maumelle

The sixth annual Big Buzz Bass tournament presented by Bradford Marine and ATV returns to Lake Maumelle June 12, with more than $6,000 in prizes up for grabs. For the third consecutive year the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is working with 103.7 FM The Buzz to support the tournament and Arkansas bass fishing.

Dr. Doyne and Nancy Williams Endowment funds ‘Champion’ scholarship

Dr. Doyne Williams (second from right) attended the AYSSP Senior State Championship on June 5 at the Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex and presented a "check" signifying the $2,500 in scholarship money that will go to De Queen's Konnor Shelton (center), the 2021 Champion of Champions winner. WIliams and his wife, Nancy, All-American trapshooters and avid supporters of youth shooting sports, endowned $100,000 to fund the scholarship. Westside Seniors, Corning Juniors win shooting sports state titles

Program championship to the traditionally strong trap-shooting club in the northeast part of the state with a convincing win in last Saturday’s title match, outshooting rival and top-seed Harrisburg Team 2 by 10 clays at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation’s Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex.

Shooting Sports championships will be determined Friday, Saturday

JACKSONVILLE – Harrisburg’s Trap Team, which was four shots from perfection during its winning performance in the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program’s East Region Senior Tournament on May 1, will go into the AYSSP’s State Championship this Saturday as one of four top seeds and, based on that May 1 showing, the heavy favorite to win the championship.

Eagle Scout candidate creates outdoor learning center with AGFC grant

MOUNTAIN HOME — Mountain Home high schooler Duncan Conly still has one more year until he graduates, but he’s already begun to make his mark on the world. Friday, he unveiled a new outdoor learning area at Mountain Home Kindergarten at a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Apply for a WMA Deer Permit Hunt

LITTLE ROCK – The application period for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Wildlife Management Area Deer Permit hunts is open until midnight July 1. Hunters interested in pursuing white-tailed deer on some of the most popular public deer hunting areas in the state may apply through the AGFC’s licensing system at www.agfc.com.
