Donation offers scholarship to top shot at Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program

LITTLE ROCK — Student athletes considering participating in this year’s Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program have a new reason to sign up and build their shotgunning skills: the chance to claim a $1,250 scholarship as top gun in the Champion of Champions shoot that will be held in conjunction with the program’s state championship event.

Youths experience squirrel, raccoon hunting at AYSSP getaway

CASSCOE – Six youths from towns throughout the state were able to enjoy a weekend of squirrel and coon hunting, trap shooting and more thanks to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program.

Westside finds the zone in state championship trap tournament; Nashville repeats in juniors

JACKSONVILLE – On May 4, all of Westside’s senior high trap shooters lined up and, hockey or baseball style, congratulated its region rival, the Black squad from Corning High School, for winning the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program’s East Regional championship. The way Corning won that day, only missing 7 shots out of 250, it deserved the accolades.

AYSSP finals this weekend to be live-streamed

JACKSONVILLE – Teams from Bald Knob, Corning, White Hall and Bentonville will carry top seeds into this weekend’s Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program Senior State Tournament. Meanwhile, junior squads from Cossatot, Beebe, Cabot and Ashdown are the top seeds in the Junior State Tournament, and both events will be staged at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex.

Bentonville West’s balance brings home senior AYSSP West regional title; Cossatot wins west juniors

JACKSONVILLE – Bentonville West Trap Team 1 had plenty of balance in winning the West Senior Regional by four shots Saturday, May 18, at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex.

Bald Knob survives for another AYSSP region title; Beebe wins north juniors

The Bulldogs Gray Trap Team, led by seniors Paige Hanna and Hunter Throckmorton, captured another title in the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program's North Senior Regional Saturday at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex, but it took those two seniors’ near-perfect shooting to outlast Conway Cat Trap 1.
