Walleye catch completes Master Angler sweep for Flippin fisherman

May 13, 2020

FLIPPIN – A walleye that could top 9 pounds was all that was keeping Roger Pyzocha from claiming catches in all eight of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Master Angler Program categories, but it was proving elusive these past couple of years. Finally, after a few near misses on the weight scale with 8-pounders, Pyzocha recently landed a 9.2-pound walleye on Bull Shoals Lake to reach a goal he’d set out to achieve seven years ago.

Martin Tinnin caught this tank of a rainbow trout Sunday on the White River while fishing with guide Casey Hughes. Hughes took advantage of a caddis hatch in slack water to put Tinnin on this 26-inch rainbow that was released right after the photo was taken.

This helps keep sport fish and the populations of the fish they feed on in balance.

JONESBORO — Another wet spring is upon us, and many anglers who rely on rivers, oxbows, backouts and bays have been met with high, muddy water that can create frustrating fishing conditions. But in a state with so many bodies of water, anglers still have some great opportunities to go fishing.
