AGFC powers up SWEPCO Lake with massive fish habitat project

SILOAM SPRINGS — During the last week, biologists and staff with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission planted a literal forest of fish habitat under the surface of SWEPCO Lake in northwest Arkansas. Throughout the week, men and women cut, tied and sank nearly 500 mature hardwood trees into the lake to create habitat for bass, crappie and other sportfish in the 500-acre powerplant reservoir.

Lake Columbia crappie angler strikes gold

MAGNOLIA – The sun may have cooked away any rainbows over Lake Columbia on Saturday, July 27, but local angler David Lee Sisson certainly found the proverbial pot of gold when he netted a fish few in the fishing world have ever heard of. A golden crappie surfaced at the end of his line during one of his frequent trips to the 3,000-acre fishing destination in Columbia County. 

AGFC removes all daily sportfish limits from Lake Monticello

MONTICELLO - The Director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission removed all daily sportfish limits and length limits on Lake Monticello for all species of fish in an emergency proclamation today as a result of the recent decision by the City of Monticello to drain the lake for repairs to its dam. 

Second public meeting on DeGray Lake scheduled for Thursday

ARKADELPHIA — The second of two public meetings being held by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission on DeGray Lake will be from 6 to 8 p.m., June 27 at the Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Department at 2555 Twin Rivers Drive in Arkadelphia.
