Food falling from the sky for ducks in southwest Arkansas

SARATOGA - Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologists worked with the Army Corps of Engineers and Southwest Arkansas Water District to coordinate a drawdown on Millwood Lake earlier this summer to promote wildlife habitat through aerial seeding of millet along the lake’s abundant mudflats.
 

Forest management plants seeds for future hunting opportunity at Dagmar WMA

BRINKLEY — Wildlife habitat at Sheffield Nelson Dagmar Wildlife Management Area in Monroe County has seen a huge boost for the future, thanks to proactive work to create the next generation of forest on a small portion of the area managed for waterfowl. Habitat surveys conducted this spring show excellent results from the recent removal of select trees on Mud Slough Greentree Reservoir, promoting food for ducks, deer and a variety of other wildlife species for many generations to come.

WRICE Program offers waterfowl more food near public hunting areas

LITTLE ROCK — Waterfowl season may be months away, but the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is busy working with private landowners to plant the seeds for food ducks, geese and other migrating birds will need during their migration. A new program is working to increase the amount of leftover crops available to ducks when they arrive in The Natural State.

Commission approves discounted licenses for disabled veterans, proposes relaxed seasons on predator species

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission voted unanimously to create a new Disabled Veteran Lifetime Combination License that would be available at a reduced rate for resident military veterans meeting certain criteria during today’s regularly scheduled meeting.
 

Reusable plastic card adds options for hunting and fishing license holders

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas hunters and anglers now have the option of carrying proof of their hunting and fishing license purchase on a special weather-resistant card, offered through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s licensing system. The new plastic card license is available at licensning.agfc.com and is reusable each year. 
 

Super Retriever Series competition tests waterfowl dogs’ mettle
