State seeks big fish tales for tiger trout record

COTTER — Arkansas’s famed trout tailwaters are home to some of the largest trout in the world, including the 40 pound, 4 ounce brown trout caught by Rip Collins in 1992 that held the world record spot for 17 years (and still holds the world record for 4-lb.-test fishing line). Now the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will allow state record submissions for another trout species, this time for tiger trout.

Penka’s Outdoor Adventures Class at Pinkston Middle School in Baxter County combines real-world outdoor knowledge with state-approved curriculums to teach students skills they rarely experience in a school setting.

AGFC hatcheries, staff prepping for derby season

LONOKE — The Arkansas Derby may have ended Saturday with Angel of Empire’s win, but the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has plenty of derby fun left for families throughout The Natural State this year. AGFC hatcheries will deliver hundreds of thousands of catchable catfish to ponds across Arkansas throughout spring and summer.

PRADCO donates to ‘reimagine’ nature center

FORT SMITH – Bruce Stanton, vice president and general manager of the PRADCO fishing division, made two announcements on the deck of the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center Thursday afternoon. One recognized the needs of future generations; the other was a surprise that honored a longtime contributor to the joys of fishing.
