The rainbow trout have been hitting great on the Spring River in northeast Arkansas, according to guide Mark Crawford, and angler Debra Heaton (pictured) got to experience that recently with Mark. Small nymphs have been great for numbers. Blue-wing olives and caddis are hatching heavy most days. Anything to imitate them works. He adds that spin-fishing has been hot with Trout Magnets with the low, clear water.

Greers Ferry Lake fishing guide Tommy Cauley (pictured) got the honors to net a walleye caught by angler Chris Fischer recently on beautiful Greers Ferry. This was one of several walleye caught that day by the duo, in 60 feet of water. Tommy said Thursday that some walleye are roaming under schoolers, others are suspended and on the bottom from 30-50 feet; crawlers and artificial baits are working to catch them. Meanwhile, black bass are eating very shallow, on topwater and out deep too, on a variety of baits.

A strong mayfly hatch this summer has got the crappie, bass and bream all excited and biting in various hotspots on Millwood Lake, our reporter Mike Siefert says. Cliff Blanchett of Pine Bluff and some friends enjoyed a great fishing day with crappie and more recently. Some of the crappie being caught went over 2 pounds. The milder temperature this week can only help. Photo provided by Mike Siefert.
