David Sample caught this monster striped bass at Lake Ouachita July 23. David and his buddy David Craft, who gets credit for manning the net to help bring in the fish, launching from the Bradey Mountain ramp. The two Davids were trolling with 10XD crankbaits, about 22 feet down, when Sample hooked this fish, which measured 48-50 inches. After taking photos, Sample made sure to properly revive the fish before release. "It took about a minute, but it made one hard sweep of the tail and disappeared into the depths!"

Cooper Jester, who was fishing with his sister, Avry, and guide John Duncan on DeGray Lake, found the crappie still biting well there this week. John says he nicknamed the pair Toad Thumper (for Cooper) and Slab Slayer (for Avry, see her catch below in the DeGray Lake report from John). Crappie fishing has been unusually stronger deeper into June this year, our reports say. Photo provided by John Duncan.

Guide Tommy Cauley has been getting into the hybrid and white bass on beautiful Greers Ferry Lake these days. He's been finding them roaming around chasing schools of very small shad. Throw them an inline spinner, spoon or a topwater bait and look for them in 25-50 feet.Check out his full report from Greers Ferry Lake in the Weekly Fishing Report.
