LITTLE ROCK – With the main events of Arkansas’s hunting seasons finally upon us, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host a special live Facebook feed from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.Thursday to offer a forecast and update hunters on the latest news from the field.
Public meetings to focus on dying bottomland hardwoods at Henry Gray Hurricane Lake WMA

BALD KNOB - Roughly 212 acres of hardwood trees on Henry Gray Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area have died within the last few months and another 800 acres are showing signs of severe stress. This area within the WMA’s south greentree reservoir is an important habitat component for wintering waterfowl and a popular area with duck hunters searching for flooded hardwood hunting in Arkansas.

Arkansas dinner table set for early migrating ducks

JONESBORO - Blue-winged teal and other early migrants are beginning their annual trek south, and nearly all of the moist-soil units managed to produce food on Arkansas public land are in excellent condition to welcome them. A recent report showed outstanding crops of native vegetation as well as excellent stands of millet cover crops in units where moist-soil plants were slow to develop or knocked back to encourage better growth next year.

LITTLE ROCK – With the opening of teal season right around the corner and the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon expected to bring a flush of rainy weather, duck hunters are already turning their eyes to duck hunting, which inevitably means more attention to Arkansas’s famous greentree reservoirs.
