Quail restoration workshop scheduled at Central Arkansas Nature Center

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, United States Department of Agriculture and Quail Forever will host a special workshop to help landowners bring back northern bobwhite in central Arkansas. The workshop will be held at the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 18.

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is deep in the throes of an all out push for northern bobwhite habitat restoration, but that doesn’t mean there are no places left in the state to pursue wild quail.

Two landowner quail workshops offered in July

LITTLE ROCK - Quail Forever, in partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will be hosting two special workshops in eastern Arkansas this July to help landowners learn how they can create more quail habitat on their land and how to offset any costs associated with the work. The workshops will be in Hazen  and St. Charles on July 12th and 13th, respectively.

Landowners, AGFC biologists honored at conservation conference

MCGEHEE - Five Arkansas landowners and two Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologists earned special recognition for their outstanding conservation efforts at the Wildlife Habitat Restoration and Private Lands conference held May 8-9 at the Delta Resort in McGehee.
 

Flame on for northern bobwhite habitat

LITTLE ROCK - Prescribed fire and bobwhite quail -- one restores a natural process, the other is a natural species. Prescribed fire will take place without quail but quail will not thrive without prescribed fire. How do we get more fire on the ground? We must first understand its benefits and specifically how they relate to bobwhite quail.

Pollinator Project a Huge Success at Pinnacle Mountain State Park

LITTLE ROCK - With seeds in hand, dozens of second graders took to a field at Pinnacle Mountain State Park last week and started a first of its kind project in Arkansas. Those seeds will re-establish native grasslands to give quail a place to live and thrive.
