AGFC prepares for 16th year of Youth Shooting Sports Program

JACKSONVILLE — This year’s tournaments may be months away, but Jimmy Self, shooting sports coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, is busy sorting, filing and getting things ready for another season of introducing Arkansas youth to shotgun skills and competitive trap shooting with the AGFC Youth Shooting Sports Program.
AGFC hosting Big Squirrel Challenge in January

SPRINGDALE — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is launching a new event this January celebrating small game hunting, and it’s hopeful that it will become an annual celebration. The inaugural Big Squirrel Challenge will take place at locations across Arkansas Jan. 7-8, 2022.
Olympic silver medalist honored at shooting clinic

JACKSONVILLE — The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo may be over, but Arkansas’s own Kayle Browning is still making an impact in her home state. The Greenbrier native who took a silver medal in international trap shooting was honored at a special ceremony Saturday at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex and worked with budding shooting sports enthusiasts in a special shooting clinic presented by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Celebrate National Shooting Sports Month with the AGFC

Range staff have prepared a variety of promotions to get people off the couch and on the range to prepare for this year’s hunting seasons.
Westside Seniors, Corning Juniors win shooting sports state titles

JACKSONVILLE – Harrisburg’s Trap Team, which was four shots from perfection during its winning performance in the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program’s East Region Senior Tournament on May 1, will go into the AYSSP’s State Championship this Saturday as one of four top seeds and, based on that May 1 showing, the heavy favorite to win the championship.
Nashville takes control at AYSSP South Regional tournament

JACKSONVILLE – Nashville continued its winning ways at the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program South Region tournament Saturday at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex. Scrapper Senior 1 posted an impressive 231 of 250 to take first place in the senior division.
