Student trap shooters convene at Jacksonville as AYSSP regionals begin

JACKSONVILLE – Schools and shooting teams from throughout Arkansas will begin converging each Friday and Saturday over the next six weeks, all hoping to unseat Bald Knob High School’s top senior division team and Nashville’s top junior squad as champions of youth trap shooting in Arkansas.

Greene County 4-H chases down East Region title; Westside wins juniors

JACKSONVILLE – Junior Chase Richardson, the youngster among four other seniors making up Greene County 4-H Shooting Sports Team No. 2, had one of six perfect 50-for-50 shooting days on a hot, sunny and breezy Saturday at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Shooting Sports Complex and led his squad to the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program’s East Senior Region championship May 12.
 

Texarkana dominates at South Regional; Nashville wins juniors

JACKSONVILLE – Gilson Elam was a perfect 50-for-50 and Jagger East, John Cox and Jonah Rathburn hit a combined 146 targets out of 150 attempts in leading the Texarkana Arkansas Razorback Trap Team’s Red Squad to the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program’s South Senior Regional championship last Saturday, May 5, at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Shooting Sports Complex.
 

Newcomer Russellville soars to top of west juniors; Booneville wins west senior regional

JACKSONVILLE – On the back of the T-shirts worn by the Russellville Shooting Team read the words “In memory of Andy Thomas.” Thomas, who passed away last year after battling cancer, had been a coach and one of the people instrumental with starting the Russellville shooting program six years ago, according to Russellville head coach Dwayne Rambo.
 

Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports regional tournaments begin April 27

JACKSONVILLE – Student athletes from across Arkansas will gather at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Shooting Sports Complex in Jacksonville each weekend, beginning April 27, to take their shots at the regional and state championship tournaments of the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program.
