Doug Isanhart of Conway recently went back to the exact location, White Hole on the White River, where last year he had caught some beautiful brown trout and one year later connected again. In fact, his son, John, and Doug Hagee also caught brown trout in the same location. They had a great day until hitting a rock and breaking their motor, which put a halt to a three-hour fishing day. But, Doug tells us, they nevertheless landed four species of trout from the White River.

Bryson Harpole of Beebe caught this dandy brown trout on the Little Red River while fishing with guide Mike Winkler of Little Red Fly Fishing Trips. Greers Ferry Lake is high and the Army Corps of Engineers has been moving water off the lake with long (12-hour) releases at the dam. Nevertheless, Mike says, when the water is falling out the trout fishing on the Little Red has been very good. Caddis patterns and pheasant tail nymphs along with midge patterns have been great, he said, and streamer fishing has been excellent.

Mike Eakle landed this nice catfish caught off Blackburn's Resort and Boat Rental's dock on Norfork Lake using a live shiner. While black bass, stripers, crappie and now some nice walleye have been heavy targets for anglers of lake on Norfork, the catfish are biting well, too, as resort owner Steven Street notes from Blackburn's.

Mrs. Willie Bethea of Camden, a client of Millwood Lake Guide Service, was fishing with her husband and enjoyed the crappie bite on Millwood this past week, despite the darkening skies and impending rain. Guide Mackey Harvin took his clients to the crappie hot spots. Warmer temperatures helped the bite, and crappie have begun migrating to cypress trees for their spring spawning ground movements at Millwood. A few nice 2- to 2.5-pound crappie have been hitting jigs and minnows over the last week. They've also been hitting bass anglers' baits, such as spinnerbaits and lizards, which fishing the cypress stands. Photo provided by Mike Siefert.

Jonathan Still put his kayak to good use on Overcup Lake in Conway County, hooking this nice crappie. Lacey Williams of Lakeview Landing at Overcup, who provided the photo, says crappie are moving in slowing, and some are still out in deeper spots of Overcup. Jigs are the go-to bait right now. While they're also still waiting on fish to move back toward the dock, the angling around the levee "is great," Lacey said. Lakeview Landing is off Arkansas Highway 95.

Mark Crawford guided Hannah (no last name available) to a nice rainbow catch on the Spring River this past week. The Spring River has a lot of water now, making wading difficult, but the boating anglers are finding trout biting great when they add a little more weight to get the fly down. Also, Mark notes that the campgrounds have all opened for the summer season, and  they'll provide more wade access when the high water drops. Trout stockings have add more catch possibilities, too, he says.
