Graduating wildlife officers receive words of wisdom

CONWAY — Ten cadets became Arkansas wildlife officers during graduation July 19 at Antioch Baptist Church in Conway. They completed 18 weeks of instruction at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s H.C. “Red” Morris Enforcement Training Center at Mayflower.
Union County man pleads guilty to arson and jury tampering after attempt to burn wildlife officer’s truck

EL DORADO – A Union County man has pleaded guilty to attempted arson and jury tampering in a case involving an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officer’s truck. Harold S. Otwell, 47, of El Dorado, pleaded guilty to two felonies this week after he attempted to burn an AGFC wildlife officer’s truck.

LITTLE ROCK — Last week, first responders from across central Arkansas lined the streets as they waited to salute as an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission truck to pass by, but it was not the wildlife officer driving the truck they were focused on. Instead, they were standing tall and saluting the courage of the young man riding in the back of the truck, Louie Schneider. This would be the last ride in a vehicle the 9-year-old would make in his short, but impactful life.
AGFC honors 11 enforcement officers with annual awards

More than $531,600 in wildlife violations fines distributed to conservation education efforts throughout Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK -- The Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling $531,602 to promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to 253 schools and conservation districts in 71 Arkansas counties. The grant program is funded by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission through fines collected from hunting and fishing violations.
