You are hereby notified that Commissioners of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will meet on the following dates and times to consider any business that may be brought before the Commission. Unless otherwise stated, meetings will be held at the AGFC offices, 2 Natural Resources Dr. in Little Rock.

You're never too young to start appreciating the brown trout that are prevalent in the White River at Cotter. Browns are beginning to make their reeds, the areas where they leave their eggs during spawning season, in shoals around the White, so watch out for them. Family Fishing Derby Set for Fort Smith’s Wells Lake Nov. 6

FORT SMITH – The Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be sponsoring a free Family Fishing Derby at Wells Lakes, adjacent to the AGFC’s Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center, on Saturday, Nov. 6.

New Lake Maumelle loop trail offers birds, blooms and bank fishing

LITTLE ROCK — A new loop in the trail system around Lake Maumelle in central Arkansas will take visitors on a tour of scenic views among the open forests of the Ouachita foothills. The 2.3-mile Bufflehead Bay trail was completed this fall, and is sure to be a favorite among bird-watchers and other conservationists looking for a secluded adventure without the long drive to a remote destination.

Arkansas decoy adoption program looking for donors

PINE BLUFF — With less than a month until Arkansas’s regular duck season, many excited hunters are going through old bags of decoys, looking for a reason to freshen up their spread. Instead of pitching those old, shot or faded decoys into the trash, let the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission rehome them and spark some interest in the next generation of waterfowl enthusiasts.

Apply for your shot to catch a dinosaur in 2022 ​​​​​​​

LITTLE ROCK – The application period to catch and keep a trophy-size Arkansas alligator gar opens Nov. 1 and closes Dec. 31. Only 200 tags will be awarded for the 2022 calendar year. This tag is required to harvest an alligator gar larger than 36 inches.
