Pintails make up a good portion of the ducks counting in the annual midwinter survey of waterfowl in Arkansas. The total ducks were up significantly from mid-December's count, but mallards are below what is expected for the first half of January.

Brennan O'Donohoe went fishing with Jon Conklin, owner of FishOn Guides, and landed one of several good-sized stripers with War Eagle Spoons on Beaver Lake. Stripers were good before last week's storms. Crappie were also hot last week. The water and temperature change has affected the bite this week.

AGFC hosts public meetings on future of Lake Columbia fishery

MAGNOLIA — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host a public input meeting regarding fisheries management on Lake Columbia at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Grand Hall of the Reynolds Center at Southern Arkansas University. The center is at 100 East University Street in Magnolia.

Arkansas schools receive $444,000 to support conservation, wildlife education

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas students participating in conservation education programs will have nearly a half a million dollars in support, thanks to the fines collected from poachers and other people who violate hunting and fishing laws in the state.

More than 9.4 million fish stocked in Arkansas lakes in 2019

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hatcheries produced and stocked more than 9.3 million fish during 2019 to improve fishing conditions for Arkansas anglers in 2019.
