White River Refuge seeks comments on proposed hunting permit fee increase

ST. CHARLES – Dale Bumpers White River national Wildlife Refuge is seeking public comments on a proposal to increase its permit fee from $12.50 to $25, and expand it to include all hunting, fishing camping and boating access on a yearly basis.

Meyer Mississippi Flyway Waterfowl Officer of the Year

LITTLE ROCK – The Mississippi Flyway Council recently named Arkansas Wildlife Officer Cpl. Block Meyer of Cross County as its 2017 Waterfowl Protection Officer of the Year. Meyer was selected from a vast field of candidates throughout the entire flyway, including Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. This is the second time in Meyer’s seven years with the AGFC that he has been bestowed this prestigious honor.

AGFC approves purchase of 14 acres for future field office

MOUNTAIN HOME – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission approved the purchase of a new parcel of land near Mountain Home during its March 23 meeting, but unlike other purchases that sometimes cover many square miles, this purchase only included 14 acres. But those 14 acres are just as important to the AGFC’s mission as any wildlife management area, as they will be the location for a future field office to serve the Mountain Home area.
