LITTLE ROCK — Step out and enjoy some springtime fishing fun with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at one of two special events being hosted by the agency’s Family and Community Fishing Program this Saturday. Both events are open to youth and adults and feature a variety of outdoor activities to kick off the first stockings of catchable catfish throughout the state.

Rescheduled Waterfowler Hall of Fame banquet to celebrate former AGFC staff and commissioners

LITTLE ROCK - Former AGFC Commissioner W.R. “Witt” Stephens Jr. and former AGFC biologist and assistant director Carl Hunter will be recognized for their work in promoting waterfowl management at a banquet at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, May 19. The banquet originally was planned for last September, but concerns over COVID-19 numbers forced organizers to postpone the event.

AGFC boosts stocking capability at Parker Bend

EUREKA SPRINGS — Thanks to a partnership with Trout Unlimited Chapter 514 in northwest Arkansas, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recently completed renovations at the Parker Bend stocking chute on the Beaver Tailwater. The new chute will enable rainbow trout stockings to occur much more frequently at Parker Bend, distributing trout more evenly in the tailwater.
