Triple Trophy Award rewards successful deer hunters

LITTLE ROCK – The 2020-21 Arkansas deer seasons are winding to a close with only late-season archery archers visiting the woods for some solitude and a last chance to harvest a deer before the season ends Feb. 28 deadline. There’s plenty of time, however, for hunters to apply to be in one of Arkansas’s elite hunting circles — the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Triple Trophy Award.

Invasive plant threatens angling, hunting at Millwood Lake

ASHDOWN — Giant salvinia, a harmful aquatic plant, was discovered in Millwood Lake Monday, Dec. 28, by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Army Corps of Engineers staff. This is the fourth known location in southern Arkansas infected by the aquatic invasive species.

Monarch license plate pollinates conservation education in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at its Dec. 10 meeting unveiled the artwork for the 2021 Conservation License Plate, a monarch butterfly. This is the 21st plate in the Conservation License Plate series, which contributes more than $1 million annually to conservation education, scholarships and internships in Arkansas.

New hunting, wildlife-watching opportunity added in northeast Arkansas

Specially tagged trout filling AGFC’s stockings this winter

LITTLE ROCK — One of the annual traditions at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is the yearly stocking of rainbow trout to Family and Community Fishing Program locations from November through February. Another tradition is to add special prize-winning tags to randomly selected fish in these stockings for anglers to enjoy even more.
