AGFC farm pond workshop available in Southwest Arkansas

MURFREESBORO — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will hold a special workshop for landowners on how to manage their farm ponds for fish at a free workshop at the in Murfreesboro from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. The meeting will be held in the Murfreesboro City Hall Community Room at 204 East Main Street.

LITTLE ROCK — Turtles are on the move all over Arkansas, and many can be found alongside roads in rural and suburban areas thanks to a wet, relatively cool spring that created excellent foraging areas in ditches and grassy areas beside the hustle of daily traffic. Many turtles are finishing up their annual breeding and egg-laying cycles, which also puts them on the move.

Operation Dry Water promotes increased safety during extended holiday weekend

To help make the weekend safe, wildlife officers throughout Arkansas are gearing up for Operation Dry Water July 5-7. 

Twenty-Nine Arkansans draw elk hunting permits

JASPER – Twenty-nine Arkansans will have the hunt of a lifetime this fall as they chase elk on public land in The Natural State. Their names were chosen during the 22nd Annual Buffalo River Elk Festival in Jasper Saturday. 

Governor Hutchinson announces Anne Marie Doramus as new Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner

LITTLE ROCK ​– Governor Asa Hutchinson today announced the appointment of Anne Marie Doramus of Little Rock to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. She is the first woman appointed to a full term on the commission in the state’s history.
