Westside finds the zone in state championship trap tournament; Nashville repeats in juniors

JACKSONVILLE – On May 4, all of Westside’s senior high trap shooters lined up and, hockey or baseball style, congratulated its region rival, the Black squad from Corning High School, for winning the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program’s East Regional championship. The way Corning won that day, only missing 7 shots out of 250, it deserved the accolades.
 

Lake Conway flood warning

MAYFLOWER - The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Flood Warning for Lake Conway. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission predicts Lake Conway will exceed the flood stage of 266 feet mean sea level (normal pool is 263 feet MSL) by June 5. The lake will continue rising after Wednesday, but the peak level is unknown at this time.

AGFC offers hundreds of rods and reels to Arkansas anglers

Tagged bass in Crooked Creek worth more than a few dollars

PYATT — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologists are collecting and tagging smallmouth bass for angler-based research on Crooked Creek near Yellville. Dozens of smallmouth in this blue-ribbon fishery will sport yellow and red tags inserted alongside the dorsal fin worth a monetary reward.
 

Apply for a WMA deer hunting permit June 3-July 1

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will open its annual WMA deer permit hunt application period for the 2019-20 hunting season Monday, June 3 through Monday, July 1, 2019. Hunters interested in pursuing white-tailed deer on some of the most popular public deer-hunting areas in the state may apply through the AGFC’s licensing system at licensing.agfc.com, beginning at 8 a.m. June 3. 
 

Super Retriever Series competition tests waterfowl dogs’ mettle

MAYFLOWER – Pepper’s Pond, on Camp Robinson Special Use Area and owned by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will again host to the Super Retriever Series/Arkansas Retriever Challenge Friday through Sunday, May 31-June 2.

AYSSP finals this weekend to be live-streamed

JACKSONVILLE – Teams from Bald Knob, Corning, White Hall and Bentonville will carry top seeds into this weekend’s Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program Senior State Tournament. Meanwhile, junior squads from Cossatot, Beebe, Cabot and Ashdown are the top seeds in the Junior State Tournament, and both events will be staged at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex.
