Austin Kennedy, a guide on the tailwater of Beaver Lake dam, caught this rainbow trout earlier this week. Most of the dams in north Arkansas are generating, having to move lots of water off their lakes.

A great way to make the holiday work for anglers and fish is to donate your Christmas tree for habitat use when it's time to take it down. There are a number of drop-off locations throughout the state, and anglers wanting to improve their fishing habitat at a lake can take the trees and sink them.

Lou Gabric, who operates Hummingbird Hideaway Resort on Norfork Lake, celebrates a good day on the lake this week catching 8- and 13-pound stripers. Striped bass fishing on the lake is heating up and the white bass bite is outstanding, he says.
