CWD-positive deer found in Independence County

OIL TROUGH – A new case of chronic wasting disease has been found in Independence County. A hunter-harvested white-tailed deer taken east of Oil Trough tested positive for the disease.

Commission hears updates on waterfowl populations heading into duck season

STUTTGART – Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioners heard reports on the AGFC’s wetlands and waterfowl management programs at today’s scheduled meeting in Stuttgart. The timing of the subjects was on point as the meeting was sandwiched between the Commission’s Stuttgart Town Hall Meeting, where waterfowl were a key focus of the public, and the opening of duck season in The Natural State.

Alabama Nature Conservancy chief to join AGFC as deputy director

LITTLE ROCK — Roger W. Mangham left Arkansas and its office of The Nature Conservancy after a decade of work for the same organization in Alabama in 2016, but he always thought someday he might return. That opportunity arose recently, allowing Mangham to head back to The Natural State. He will join the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as deputy director beginning Nov. 25.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson proclaims Arkansas Hunting and Fishing Week

LITTLE ROCK - Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed a special proclamation today in the Governor’s Conference Room at the state capitol recognizing Sept. 22-28, 2019, as Arkansas Hunting and Fishing Week. He also proclaimed Sept. 28, 2019, as National Hunting and Fishing Day in Arkansas.
