Commission grants $694,625 from wildlife fines for conservation education in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK – Schools and education groups throughout Arkansas will have additional funding for conservation education thanks to fine money collected by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Commissioners unanimously approved all fine money collected from wildlife fine violations in Fiscal Year 2019 to be transferred to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Rural Services at today’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Governor Hutchinson and U.S. Secretary Perdue Sign Shared-Stewardship Agreement

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson and United States Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Shared Stewardship today during a ceremony at the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.

Land donation increases future opportunities on White River

LITTLE ROCK – Thanks to the generosity of Dr. C.R. Magness and his wife Kay Magness, boaters and anglers will be able to access a portion of the White River in Washington County. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission authorized Director Pat Fitts to enter into a donation agreement from the Magness family for more than 4 acres of riverfront property at today’s official meeting. 

AGFC removes all daily sportfish limits from Lake Monticello

MONTICELLO - The Director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission removed all daily sportfish limits and length limits on Lake Monticello for all species of fish in an emergency proclamation today as a result of the recent decision by the City of Monticello to drain the lake for repairs to its dam. 

Commission expands furbearer trapping and hunting opportunities on private lands

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission voted to relax hunting regulations on certain predator species during a special meeting via teleconference today. The regulations had been proposed during its June 20 meeting, but were not able to be voted upon until today to allow sufficient time for public comment.

Commission authorizes more than $538,000 for boat access in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unanimously authorized $538,900 from the state’s Marine Fuel Tax program to be used in Fiscal Year 2020 for repairs and upgrades to boat ramps and access points throughout Arkansas at its meeting today.
