First-time archer proves it’s never too late to start

PINE BLUFF — Finding a place to start hunting if one doesn’t have family or friends who enjoy an outdoors lifestyle can be intimidating. Thanks to a new program through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Gov. Mike Huckabee Delta Rivers Nature Center, six “adult onset” hunters overcame that hurdle and joined the ranks of seasoned bowhunters last fall.

Arkansas students ready for statewide archery competition

HOT SPRINGS — Eighty-eight teams of students ranging from fourth-graders through high school seniors have been selected to compete in this year’s Archery in the Schools State Championship March 4-5 at the Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs after last week’s regional competitions, held throughout the state.

LITTLE ROCK – Modern gun deer hunting is in the rearview mirror for the 2021-22 deer season, but there’s still time to fill a tag with archery tackle until the end of February. For those who have already taken a deer during Arkansas’s modern gun season and one during Arkansas’s muzzleloader season, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Triple Trophy Award may yet be within reach.

LITTLE ROCK — An unfortunate technical issue that appeared during the opening weekend of Arkansas’s deer and bear archery hunting seasons has been resolved and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is asking any hunters who were unable to check their bear during the last week to try to submit their information to help manage Arkansas’s bear population.

Fall archery tournament great warm-up for deer season

MAYFLOWER — The Arkansas Bowhunters Association will host its annual Fall State Championship and Bowhunter Bonanza at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Camp Robinson Special Use Area in Mayflower Sept. 18-19. Anyone interested in 3D archery and joining a group of avid archers is welcome to attend.
