That may seem like a lifetime away for some dyed-in-the-wool hunters, but it’s a blink of an eye if you haven’t gotten your archery equipment and focus prepared. Now’s the perfect time to test your equipment and skills to be deadly accurate this season when you climb in the treestand or ground blind for the first time.
Backcountry Hunters and Anglers hosting deer hunting field day

MAYFLOWER — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will partner with the Arkansas chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers to help people get into gear for this year’s upcoming deer hunting season. The two organizations will host a special field day from 9 a.m.-noon August 21 at the Multipurpose Building of Camp Robinson Special Use Area in Mayflower.

Outdoor Adventures program creates new outdoors opportunities for Arkansas schools, students

LITTLE ROCK — Thanks to a partnership between the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation, Arkansas schools can now add semester-length programs focused on outdoor recreation that qualify for a Physical Education credit.
Urban archery hunters see early success

HEBER SPRINGS — Last week’s rain didn’t dampen the spirits of many archers looking to score an early-season archery deer during Arkansas’s 2020-21 urban archery season. As of Monday morning, 174 deer had been checked through the AGFC’s online checking system by hunters who passed the hunt’s requirements and got in the stand for some September hunting.
