Late Christmas presents arrive for Lake Conway anglers

MAYFLOWER — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Habitat for the Holidays Program supplies anglers throughout the state with used and leftover Christmas trees to sweeten up their own fishing locations, but anglers at Lake Conway’s Lawrence Landing saw a bonus batch of trees thanks to Lowe’s home improvement store in Conway.

Boaters reminded to unplug when trailering vessels

LITTLE ROCK – Anglers and hunters and other boaters who use the state’s waterways are being reminded by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Fisheries Division of a new regulation that took effect Jan. 1, 2021, requiring all boat drain plugs to be removed before and during trailering of vessels to and from access facilities on lakes, rivers and streams.

Lake Monticello habitat work builds before wet conditions arrive

Invasive plant threatens angling, hunting at Millwood Lake

ASHDOWN — Giant salvinia, a harmful aquatic plant, was discovered in Millwood Lake Monday, Dec. 28, by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Army Corps of Engineers staff. This is the fourth known location in southern Arkansas infected by the aquatic invasive species.

Sixty new habitat structures put in place on Greers Ferry Lake

HEBER SPRINGS – Anglers at Greers Ferry Lake will see an immediate benefit in coming months from a large-scale habitat project conducted Nov. 30-Dec. 4 at Greers Ferry Lake that involved 23 biologists and technicians of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Fisheries Division.
