LITTLE ROCK - Even with the modern gun deer opener cranking up this Saturday, some outdoors enthusiasts are still hitting the water in search of some peaceful fishing. Catch the latest episode of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s television show for a full-on fishing extravaganza as host Trey Reid and the Arkansas Wildlife crew take on all three faces of the Little Missouri River in southwest Arkansas.
 

Lake Dardanelle crappie worth more than a meal

RUSSELLVILLE - Crappie anglers on Lake Dardanelle may be able to win more than a fish dinner if they notice a special yellow tag behind the dorsal fin of fish they catch in the next few months. Fisheries biologists with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission have been busy netting and tagging several hundred crappie with special reward tags as part of a study on the crappie fishery this year.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is undergoing its scheduled review and revision process for the lake’s fisheries management plan, and would like to hear directly from the anglers who use this treasured resource.

FLIPPIN – When it comes to big fish, many anglers have a lot of tall tales. But one Arkansas angler can prove that he has more trophy-size fish under his belt than anyone. Last year, Roger Pyzocha, a Massachusetts native who now lives in Flippin caught his 23rd Arkansas fish that qualified for the AGFC’s Master Angler Program.
