AGFC farm pond workshop available in Southwest Arkansas

MURFREESBORO — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will hold a special workshop for landowners on how to manage their farm ponds for fish at a free workshop at the in Murfreesboro from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. The meeting will be held in the Murfreesboro City Hall Community Room at 204 East Main Street.
Westside finds the zone in state championship trap tournament; Nashville repeats in juniors

JACKSONVILLE – On May 4, all of Westside’s senior high trap shooters lined up and, hockey or baseball style, congratulated its region rival, the Black squad from Corning High School, for winning the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program’s East Regional championship. The way Corning won that day, only missing 7 shots out of 250, it deserved the accolades.

JACKSONVILLE – Teams from Bald Knob, Corning, White Hall and Bentonville will carry top seeds into this weekend’s Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program Senior State Tournament. Meanwhile, junior squads from Cossatot, Beebe, Cabot and Ashdown are the top seeds in the Junior State Tournament, and both events will be staged at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex.
Rise in Arkansas River closes Pine Bluff nature center

PINE BLUFF — The Governor Mike Huckabee Delta Rivers Nature Center will be closed until further notice. With major flooding in the area, the City of Pine Bluff has closed the gate at Regional Park Road, blocking access to the center and Harbor Oaks Golf Club.

Barton Junior High earns bid for top level of archery competition

Louisville, KY — Led by a fourth-place finish in the overall 8th grade girls competition by Millee Mobley, the Wildkittens of Barton Junior High placed 15th out of 275 middle school teams at the National Archery in the Schools National Competition last week. The high score qualifies the team to advance to the NASP Open and Championship, held in Nashville, Tennessee, July 25-27.
