Bald Knob survives for another AYSSP region title; Beebe wins north juniors

The Bulldogs Gray Trap Team, led by seniors Paige Hanna and Hunter Throckmorton, captured another title in the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program's North Senior Regional Saturday at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex, but it took those two seniors’ near-perfect shooting to outlast Conway Cat Trap 1.

Corning Dominates AYSSP East Senior Regional; Cabot Takes East Juniors

JACKSONVILLE – Corning High School’s senior trap shooting program placed four teams in the top 16, all qualifying for the State Finals, with its Black squad running away with the championship of the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sport Program’s East Regional held Saturday at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex.

AGFC receives Walton Family Foundation grant for Springdale nature center construction

BENTONVILLE – A grant from the Walton Family Foundation has been awarded to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The $980,000 grant will be used to help pay for construction of the state’s newest nature center currently under construction in Springdale.
 

AGFC recognizes northwest Arkansas partners in conservation

ROGERS — The setting of duck season dates and the proposal to increase Arkansas’s trout stamp may have taken the spotlight during last week’s Commission meeting at the John Q. Hammons Center, but the real stars of the conservation-focused meeting were three of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s long-standing partners in promoting the outdoors and working to improve our state’s natural resources. The AGFC officially recognized The Watershed Conservation Resource Center, Bentonville High School, and Benton County Quail with Conservation Partner awards at the beginning of Thursday’s meeting.
 

White Hall’s balance provides slim senior margin; perfect shooters lead Ashdown juniors in AYSSP South Regional

JACKSONVILLE – If the first weekend is any indication, the race to be this year’s best senior high team in the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program will be a wide-open affair. In the large South Regional, staged on Saturday, the top six teams were separated by five total trap target hits, with the White Hall Bulldogs’ Five Dog Night squad easing to the regional championship with 230 total clays

Learn to catch crappie at Cook’s Lake

CASSCOE — Spring is in the air, and for many Arkansans that means baseball, turkey hunting, and crappie fishing. Many anglers only target crappie in spring, but good fishing for Arkansas’s most sought after panfish can be had all year. Join Wil Hafner, education program specialist for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for a free crappie fishing seminar Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Potlatch Conservation Education Center at Cook’s Lake in Casscoe.
 

AGFC nature centers offer family fun for Spring Break

LITTLE ROCK — Unplug from the electronics and take your kids on an outdoor adventure this Spring Break at an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission nature or education center. All eight AGFC-operated centers will be open with special programs and events March 19-23 to keep families entertained with wholesome outdoors fun.
