Public Input Sought for Buffalo River Elk Management Plan

HARRISON – The National Park Service and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will hold public input  meetings Tuesday, March 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ponca Elk Education Center and Wednesday, March 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carroll Electric Cooperative Building in Jasper to gather public input on future management regarding the increasing elk herd around Ponca and the Buffalo River National Park.

Leftover WMA turkey hunt permits available online March 12

LITTLE ROCK – If you didn’t draw a wildlife management area turkey hunt permit during the regular drawing, there’s still a chance to get a spot to hunt some of Arkansas’s most popular WMAs. All leftover permits will be available at www.agfc.com on a first-come, first-served online sale beginning 8 a.m., March 12.
 

Triple Trophy Award available to deer hunters

FORT SMITH — The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center will hold a special turkey hunting workshop that will focus on turkey calling at 6 p.m., March 8. Not only will participants learn the basics of how to attract turkeys with a friction call, they’ll build their own call they can use to chase down their bird.
 

Arkansas’s redesigned mobile app wins AVA digital award

LITTLE ROCK – The Information Network of Arkansas announced the recently redesigned Arkansas Game and Fish Commission mobile app won a Platinum AVA Digital Award in the Government App for Citizens category. This award recognizes outstanding work in the concept, direction, design and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication.

Arkansas State Duck Stamp artwork unveiled at Arkansas Sportsman’s Caucus

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation unveiled the artwork to be used on the 2019-20 Arkansas State Duck Stamp at the Arkansas Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus luncheon in downtown Little Rock. The event was part of an update to state legislators on work the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and other partners are doing to improve and maintain the valuable natural resources of The Natural State.
