AGFC and AFC partner with local landowner to benefit habitat through prescribed fire

LITTLE ROCK —  People west of Little Rock may have seen smoke plumes in the air over local landowner Ray Vogelpohl’s  land near the Perry-Pulaski county line, but the small flames producing that smoke were a good thing for the future of wildlife on Vogelpohl’s property. Thanks to a partnership between Vogelpohl’s , the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Arkansas Forestry Commission, the 24-acre burn was conducted safely and efficiently, hopefully setting the stage for many more to come. 
 

AGFC’s Kinion elected to Arkansas Environmental Educators Association board

Spring River danger resolved

HARDY – A sinkhole that opened in the Spring River last month has been closed, Commissioner of State Lands John Thurston announced Thursday, July 12. The Commissioner of State Lands office, alongside the Attorney General’s office, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Geological Survey, the Arkansas Department of Transportation, Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, Fulton County Sheriff Albert Roork and Fulton County Judge Darrell Zimmer, as well as local landowners and volunteers, completed work Thursday repairing the sinkhole, located south of Mammoth Spring.

AEDC receives $65,000 from Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Economic Development Commission announced today it has received $65,000 for its Division of Rural Services Unpaved Roads Grant Program. The funding was made possible through the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation with private funds that were contributed by the now dissolved Arkansas Water Foundation.
