Five WRICE fields offered for early teal hunt Sept. 25-26

LITTLE ROCK - Five private rice fields that are part of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Waterfowl Rice Incentive Conservation Enhancement program are being made available to public hunters via draw for next weekend, Sept. 25-26, during the state’s special early teal season.

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansans looking for adventure in the wetlands may want to call a friend in south Arkansas to see if there’s an opportunity to take part in this year’s private land alligator hunt Sept. 17-20 and Sept. 24-27. While public hunting opportunities have all been awarded through the AGFC’s draw process in July, private land hunting for alligators follows a quota system that offers more opportunities for people who weren’t lucky enough to draw a public hunting permit.

LITTLE ROCK – Dove season opens September 4, and many hunters will gather at a field of a friend or family member to enjoy the kickoff to hunting season. Others will be paying to hunt a prepared field they found through social media postings or the corkboard at the local feed supply store. Regardless of the destination, now’s the time for a little extra legwork to make sure your hunting year doesn’t begin with a blunder. Be sure to check the field you plan to hunt now to ensure baiting has not taken place.
Commission approves increased funding for invasive carp control in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — Commissioners with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unanimously approved at today’s meeting a $70,000 increase to the AGFC’s Fisheries Budget to purchase and outfit two specialized boats that will be crewed and used to catch and remove invasive carp in the Lower Mississippi River Basin and the Arkansas/White/Red Rivers Basin.

JASPER — The final three public land permits for the 2021 elk hunting season have been drawn, and winners of these coveted hunting opportunities have been notified, following Monday’s cancellation of the 2021 Buffalo River Elk Festival.

LITTLE ROCK – Twenty Arkansans will have the hunt of a lifetime this fall as they chase elk on public land in The Natural State. Their names were chosen via random computerized draw last week.
Second edition of Arkansas Turkey Stamp available

LITTLE ROCK — The second edition of the voluntary Arkansas Turkey Stamp is now available to order through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s online licensing system at www.agfc.com, at any license dealer, regional office or AGFC nature center. The stamp is not required to hunt turkeys in the state of Arkansas, but was created to give conservationists and turkey enthusiasts a way to help support conservation efforts for the species.
