Bald Knob edges out Corning in Arkansas trap-shooting championship

JACKSONVILLE – With no more misses to spare in the final round, at the end of a long day shooting in hot and humid conditions, Bald Knob High School’s top trap-shooting team ran off 52 straight hits to win its first Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program senior state championship here Saturday.

AYSSP Teams Go Head-to-Head in Seniors, Juniors for State Championships June 1-2

JACKSONVILLE – Four teams in the senior division of the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program regional tournaments established themselves as solid front-runners for Saturday’s State Championship round. Texarkana Arkansas Razorback Trap Team Red, Bald Knob Bulldog White and the Booneville Bearcats Team 1 each won its respective region by at least eight targets, and Greene County 4-H Team No. 2 outlasted a very strong East Regional by 5 targets over its nearest competitors.

Newcomer Russellville soars to top of west juniors; Booneville wins west senior regional

JACKSONVILLE – On the back of the T-shirts worn by the Russellville Shooting Team read the words “In memory of Andy Thomas.” Thomas, who passed away last year after battling cancer, had been a coach and one of the people instrumental with starting the Russellville shooting program six years ago, according to Russellville head coach Dwayne Rambo.
 

Escape to the outdoors this Spring Break

LITTLE ROCK – Trying to come up with some last-minute plans to keep the kids entertained during Spring Break? Arkansas Game and Fish Commission nature and education centers have plenty of programs available to offer outdoors-oriented fun for kids of all ages. Kids can learn to shoot a bow or a bb gun, paddle a canoe or kayak, or make handy nature-themed crafts to take home and enjoy. 

Youth hunters make memories at AGFC mentored hunts

Seventeen young hunters had the opportunity to experience hunting camps like no other, thanks to special mentored hunts held last weekend by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at two conservation education centers owned by the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation.
