Delta Rivers Nature Center to build bowhunters from the ground up

PINE BLUFF — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Gov. Mike Huckabee Delta Rivers Nature Center is looking for a few new faces to add to the bowhunting community in Arkansas. A special year-long mentored hunt program is being offered to take beginners from learning how to shoot a bow and identify game and walk them through all the steps needed to be successful in the field.

AEDC awards $502,838 to support wildlife education, improve school conservation programs

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Economic Development Commission Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling $502,838.41 to promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to 183 schools, school districts, and conservation districts in 65 Arkansas counties. These grants are funded by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission through fines collected from hunting and fishing violations. Only money collected in the county where the violation occurred may be used as grant funds for that county.

Cut-Off Creek and Seven Devils WMAs closed Feb. 20-26

MONTICELLO – Cut-Off Creek WMA and Seven Devils WMA will be closed to daytime public access Feb. 20-26. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will be conducting aerial operations aimed at reducing feral hog populations in the areas. The flights will be dependent on the weather.
