Youthful Hot Springs teams dominate Commissioners’ Cup divisions

ROYAL – The Hot Springs youth fishing duo of Xander Cobb and Eli Rowton hauled in 10.52 pounds with a five-bass stringer to win the Senior Division of the 4th Annual Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Commissioners’ Cup presented by Xpress Boats, held last Saturday on Lake Ouachita.

HOT SPRINGS – The sinking of trees cut from a lake’s nearby shoreline has become a popular Arkansas Game and Fish Commission method for boosting a fishery and helping the anglers using it, but some bodies of water like Lake Hamilton don’t offer the luxury of such handy habitat tools.

A recent trip for a group of friends to Lake Conway produced a great day of fishing for redear sunfish. Two of the anglers were Kayce Wilson (who works at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission) and McKenzie Peters, who are holding up a couple of the nice shellcrackers that eventually resulted in a nice fish fry afterward. Braelyn Bridgeman, age 13, and his uncle Kyle celebrate the catch of a golden rainbow trout on Memorial Day. The trout was caught right above Crooked Creek before the catch-and-release area toward Rim Shoals while they were camping with family at the White Buffalo Resort. AGFC’s hatcheries, 30 other locations provide free fishing opportunities June 11

LITTLE ROCK – Not only will the fishing in Arkansas be free on the weekend of June 10-12, but the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will provide plenty of free opportunities around the state for kids and adults to fish on Saturday, June 11.

Bill Oswald, right, in photo, from Missouri caught this nice hybrid striper while being guided by Tommy Cauley on Greers Ferry Lake earlier this week. Oswald and his wife, Mary Ann, enjoyed catching several other fish with Cauley along with the hybrid.
