Dale Garlin took his son, William, and his dad, Troy, on a "guys' fishing trip" to DeGray Lake recently to fishin the lower portion of the lake there. "Didn't catch a whole lot, but we had a lot of fun," he said.
Lake Columbia owner works to limit giant salvinia spread

MAGNOLIA – With guidance from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologists, the Rural Development Authority in Columbia County, owner of Lake Columbia, has begun treatment of the lake to combat giant salvinia.

Meredith Jacks caught this 4.3-pound bass at the Bishop Park ponds in Bryant using a brooder minnow. Beginning last Saturday, residents and nonresidents were able to fish throughout Arkansas without the required fishing license, bringing many out to neighborhood lakes and larger fisheries. The free fishing extends through Sunday, March 29.

Lake Maumelle gets bonus bream stocking

LITTLE ROCK – Bass and crappie received a boost in Lake Maumelle, thanks to a donation from a Lonoke commercial fish hatchery to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Early last Thursday morning (March 12), personnel from the AGFC’s Joe Hogan Fish Hatchery in Lonoke stocked 290,000 redear sunfish fingerlings into the lake.
