Some pockets of Arkansas have good numbers of ducks, but most recently survey shows that overall numbers are below the long-term average by about 25 percent.

Arkansas's waterfowl habitat has seen a huge upsurge in greater white-fronted geese (specklebellies) in recent years. Geese in general are prominent on the landscape now from the northern border of the state to the southeast corner, and in last week's AGFC aerial survey, geese outnumbered ducks on the Delta.

A mallard hen is caught in flight in the Stuttgart area. More mallards were seen in anecdotal reports from waterfowlers over the weekend after a cold weather front approach and passed through the state.
