Range staff have prepared a variety of promotions to get people off the couch and on the range to prepare for this year’s hunting seasons.

LITTLE ROCK — If you’ve ever dreamed of taking on the challenge of bear hunting in The Natural State, you’ll want to free up your calendar for one of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s upcoming workshops. Myron Means, AGFC large carnivore program coordinator will host a series of seminars throughout Arkansas dedicated to hunting black bears during August and September.
 

AGFC removes all daily sportfish limits from Lake Monticello

MONTICELLO - The Director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission removed all daily sportfish limits and length limits on Lake Monticello for all species of fish in an emergency proclamation today as a result of the recent decision by the City of Monticello to drain the lake for repairs to its dam. 

Forest management plants seeds for future hunting opportunity at Dagmar WMA

BRINKLEY — Wildlife habitat at Sheffield Nelson Dagmar Wildlife Management Area in Monroe County has seen a huge boost for the future, thanks to proactive work to create the next generation of forest on a small portion of the area managed for waterfowl. Habitat surveys conducted this spring show excellent results from the recent removal of select trees on Mud Slough Greentree Reservoir, promoting food for ducks, deer and a variety of other wildlife species for many generations to come.
 

Waterfowl hunting dates for nonresidents on Arkansas wildlife management areas available

Commission expands furbearer trapping and hunting opportunities on private lands

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission voted to relax hunting regulations on certain predator species during a special meeting via teleconference today. The regulations had been proposed during its June 20 meeting, but were not able to be voted upon until today to allow sufficient time for public comment.
