Urban archery hunts offer head start to deer hunting season

LITTLE ROCK - The application period for Arkansas’s special urban bowhunts for the 2019-20 deer hunting season is now open. These hunts, which begin Sept. 1, offer bowhunters in Arkansas an early opportunity to get into the woods in order to help maintain white-tailed deer populations at levels which reduce conflicts with homeowners and drivers. 

Join Arkansas’s annual turkey and quail brood survey effort

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is opening up participation in the state’s annual Wild Turkey Brood Survey and Annual Northern Bobwhite Survey to the general public for the first time, thanks to a new online surveying tool.

Lake Conway water level crests, Palarm Creek receding

MAYFLOWER - At 10 a.m. this morning (June 7, 2019), Craig D. Campbell Lake Conway Reservoir crested at 267.97 feet above mean sea level, 5 feet above its normal elevation. The water level within Palarm Creek, which was coming into the lake, has now fallen enough for AGFC staff to open the gates and begin evacuating water. Baring any major rain events, it will still take several days for the lake to drop below flood stage (266.0 feet msl).
 

Lake Conway exceeds flood pool, closure of Arkansas highway expected

MAYFLOWER — As of 8 a.m. today, the water level at Craig D. Campbell Lake Conway Reservoir has surpassed flood stage, and is continuing to rise one foot every 24 hours. Portions of Arkansas Highway 89 are expected to be blocked by floodwater by the end of the day. 

CWD Management Zone expands to include Baxter, Scott and Stone counties

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has expanded the Chronic Wasting Disease Management Zone to include Baxter, Scott and Stone counties following the confirmation of CWD-positive deer in or near these counties during the 2018-19 deer hunting season. 

AGFC offers hundreds of rods and reels to Arkansas anglers
