Heavy rains from last weekend and then again Tuesday evening over much of the state have pushed lake and stream levels much higher. Many of the Army Corps of Engineers lakes, from Millwood to Beaver, have seen an uptick of 10 to 20+ feet in rise over the week and limited some fishing opportunities. Greers Ferry Lake's rise has hurt trout fishing opportunies for waders on the Little Red River. You'll need to drift-fish due to the high river.

Despite the recent cold, then warm weather patterns, when back to cold, bass are beginning to warm up to the bite on Lake DeGray. Also, lots of different presentations are working, depending on the day and weather, at Bull Shoals Lake.

Another frigid cold spell last week left the fishing mostly to those anglers with access to bigger water. Most of those anglers found the crappie biting well throughout the state.

All of Arkansas wasn't frozen up at midweek. There were reports coming in from the bigger lakes, however, such as Greers Ferry Lake, Beaver Lake and Norfork Lake. The chase is on for stripers (photo) in Norfork Lake, according to guide Tom Reynolds of STR Outfitters. Black bass are always good now in Greers Ferry Lake, according to Tommy Cauley.
