AGFC proposes changes to non-resident waterfowl hunting on public land

LITTLE ROCK – Commissioners with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission proposed an amendment to waterfowl hunting regulations today to specify when non-residents can hunt waterfowl on wildlife management areas to specific blocks of dates.

Spring River danger resolved

HARDY – A sinkhole that opened in the Spring River last month has been closed, Commissioner of State Lands John Thurston announced Thursday, July 12. The Commissioner of State Lands office, alongside the Attorney General’s office, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Geological Survey, the Arkansas Department of Transportation, Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, Fulton County Sheriff Albert Roork and Fulton County Judge Darrell Zimmer, as well as local landowners and volunteers, completed work Thursday repairing the sinkhole, located south of Mammoth Spring.

Gov. Hutchinson welcomes 15 wildlife officers to AGFC

CONWAY – Fifteen new faces will be joining the ranks of Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officers this summer. The latest class of wildlife officer cadets celebrated graduation from the AGFC’s training program today at Antioch Baptist Church.

Two Union County men arrested after attempt to burn wildlife officer’s truck

EL DORADO – Two Union County men were arrested last week after evidence was developed that they had attempted to burn an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officer’s truck. The investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Harold S. Otwell, age 47 of El Dorado and Dustin A. Pate, age 31 of Junction City. Both individuals were arrested on June 27.

Governor Hutchinson Appoints J.D. Neeley to Arkansas Game and Fish Commission

LITTLE ROCK – Gov. Asa Hutchinson today appointed John David “J.D.” Neeley of Camden to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

AGFC temporarily suspends issuing new permits for importing, breeding, selling venomous or poisonous species

LITTLE ROCK – Commissioners voted to temporarily suspend the issuance of new Wildlife Importation and Wildlife Breeder/Dealer permits for venomous or poisonous wildlife species at today’s regularly scheduled meeting. 
 

AGFC asks boaters to use caution on Spring River

MAMMOTH SPRING – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is asking anyone floating the Spring River in Fulton County to avoid the area near Sadler Falls. A sinkhole has opened below the falls near Dead Man’s Curve. Around noon Saturday, the resulting whirlpool was the location of a fatal boating accident.
