AGFC offers more than $768,000 in wildlife fines for education grants

LITTLE ROCK – More than $768,000 collected from wildlife fines is available for Arkansas educators to apply for grants through the AGFC’s Conservation Education Grants Program by Oct. 4, 2018. 

Bear hunting seminar slated for Fort Smith nature center

FORT SMITH - Myron Means, large carnivore program coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will host a seminar dedicated to hunting black bears at the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday Aug. 30.

HEBER SPRINGS - Members of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission joined local trout guides, educators and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service last week to teach 35 4th- through 6th-grade students about fishing and conservation of our aquatic resources at the 3rd annual Little Red River Fish Camp at JFK Park in Heber Springs.

JACKSONVILLE – With no more misses to spare in the final round, at the end of a long day shooting in hot and humid conditions, Bald Knob High School’s top trap-shooting team ran off 52 straight hits to win its first Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program senior state championship here Saturday.

Life jackets ticket to sweet rewards

LITTLE ROCK – Wildlife officers throughout Arkansas will be looking to hand out some of the sweetest citations an angler could ask for this summer. Thanks to Sonic Drive In, AGFC wildlife officers will be armed with 10,000 special “ice cream citations” for youths on Arkansas waters when they’re caught wearing their life jackets.
