AGFC to host public meetings on Greers Ferry Lake Fisheries Management Plan

HEBER SPRINGS — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will hold a public meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 28, at the Heber Springs Community Center to gather public input for the new Greers Ferry Lake Fisheries Management Plan.
2019 Arkansas fishing guidebooks available

LITTLE ROCK – The latest edition of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s fishing and trout fishing guidebooks are being distributed to AGFC offices and license dealers around the state. The guide is free and contains a few changes from 2018. Visit www.agfc.com/guidebooks to download a copy for for your home computer or smartphone, or pick one up at any AGFC nature center, regional office or license dealer.

Trophy alligator gar tags drawn in Arkansas for 2019

LITTLE ROCK — One hundred lucky anglers and bowfishermen were successful in drawing this year’s allotment of Alligator Gar Trophy Tags last week. These tags are required to take an alligator gar 36 inches or longer in Arkansas.

LITTLE ROCK — That Christmas tree that stands proudly above gifts on Christmas morning has plenty of giving left to do if you’re an angler. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has established drop-off locations for all leftover Christmas trees near popular fishing destinations to give them a new life as fish habitat.

LITTLE ROCK — Thousands of rainbow trout have been stocked around the state in the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Family and Community Fishing Program locations. Among these fish, 300 will be fitted with special fluorescent pink tags that can be redeemed for a special prize in addition to the good meal they provide.
