Snow goose conservation order offers last chance for die-hard waterfowl hunters

LITTLE ROCK – After a brief halt Saturday, Feb. 2, for the waterfowl youth hunt, the 2019 Light Goose Conservation Order will again be in operation in Arkansas. After a fairly tough year in the duck woods, many hunters may want to extend their season with this additional opportunity at geese and help conservation managers balance population levels.

STUTTGART — A new, friendly competition may be a great way to bring awareness to a conservation issue and help feed needy families in Arkansas this February. The first World Championship Snow Goose Conservation Hunt competition will take place, Feb. 9-10 at Mack’s Prairie Wings in Stuttgart.

LITTLE ROCK — It may sound simple enough to the everyday WMA waterfowl hunter, but to the newcomer or the not-so-veteran waterfowler using public land, scouting the area for ducks is best accomplished by watching how groups of ducks are flying from a resting area, according to Luke Naylor, the AGFC's waterfowl program coordinator.

LITTLE ROCK -- One question that springs up each year is how old a youth has to be before they may hunt by themselves. Arkansas Game and Fish Commission regulations state that a hunter must be at least 6 years old to kill a deer, bear or turkey, but the answer to hunting by oneself is a bit more complicated.
