LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry will hold a special “freezer cleanout day” at the Bass Pro Shops in Little Rock, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 25. Any hunter who wishes to donate processed meat or money to help feed needy families in Arkansas is encouraged to join in the event.

LITTLE ROCK — As summer progresses and people begin to see deer more frequently in the open, many of the deer they witness will be seen with ticks or bare spots in their fur from scratching at parasites on the skin. It’s human nature to want to help, but according to Dr. Jenn Ballard, state wildlife veterinarian for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, treating free-ranging wildlife is rarely effective and can cause many more troubles than it prevents.
Public meetings on CWD set for northeast towns

LITTLE ROCK — Two public meetings in August will give northeast Arkansans a chance to visit with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Wildlife Management and Research division staffers and other experts to discuss chronic wasting disease and its status in the neighboring states of Missouri and Tennessee.

LITTLE ROCK — The printed version of the 2021-22 Arkansas Hunting Guidebook is being produced and should be distributed in August throughout the state, but hunters can get familiar with this year’s season dates and regulations with a digital version, now available at www.agfc.com for download.

Leftover WMA Deer Hunt Permits available July 21

LITTLE ROCK – More than 300 leftover WMA deer hunt permits for Arkansas wildlife management areas will be available for purchase beginning 8 a.m., Wednesday, July 21. These permits cover modern gun, muzzleloader and mobility-impaired hunts that weren’t awarded through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s annual WMA deer permit drawing earlier this month.
