WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON — Chronic wasting disease was first detected in Arkansas in 2016, and since that time the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has worked tirelessly to map out exactly where the disease may have spread throughout The Natural State. Dr. Jenn Ballard recently joined radio host John Kruse on his nationally syndicated show, America Outdoors Radio, to explain some of the revolutionary techniques the AGFC has used to monitor this serious deer disease.

HUMNOKE — Public land hunters will be seeing a number of trees at George H. Dunklin Jr. Bayou Meto Wildlife Management Area marked with blue paint. The markings reflect the second step in the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s efforts to restore the state’s crown jewel of public waterfowl hunting.

LITTLE ROCK — Getting your deer tested for chronic wasting disease not only is free through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, it might even land you a free hunting and fishing for life. Thanks to a donation from the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation, every Arkansas resident who has their harvested deer tested for CWD this year will be entered to win one of two gift certificates for a free Resident Sportsman's Lifetime Combination License and Permit. Hunters who submit multiple deer for testing will have increased chances of being selected. AGFC employees and immediate families are ineligible to win.

LITTLE ROCK — Hunters headed to deer camp to get things ready for opening weekend of modern gun deer season may want to make a quick pitstop to fuel up at their local Hardee’s restaurant. Every Hardee’s restaurant in Arkansas will give a free sausage biscuit to anyone who shows their valid hunting license to the cashier during each restaurant’s normal breakfast hours Wednesday, Nov. 10.
